Description

Located near Mount Ararat, 5 km from Doğubeyazıt, İshakpaşa Palace is one of the most distinguished and famous works of Ottoman architecture after Topkapı Palace. This building, which is a complex rather than a palace, is the last great monument of the Ottoman Empire in the Tulip Era. II. It was built by İshak Pasha and Çolak Abdi Pasha in 1685 and took its final shape in 1784. İshakpaşa Palace, whose construction took about 100 years, is also seen as a very valuable work in terms of art history. The most important feature of the İshakpaşa Palace, which contains inspirations from the Ottoman, Seljuk and Persian architectural styles, is that it is the palace in which the world’s first heating system was installed.

The relief patterns on the İshakpaşa Vase were created by stylizing the patterns that bear the traces of many cultures from Iran to the Anatolian Seljuk State, from Georgia to the Caucasus. The lion motif, which draws attention to the right and left of the large inlaid door of the palace, is decorated on the vase. İshakpaşa Palace was included in the World Heritage Tentative List by UNESCO in 2000.

The İshakpaşa Vase is produced from handmade cream opal glass and all the relief patterns on it are decorated using gold gilding and antiquated paints. Production is limited to 2,000 pieces.
