Description

Talismanic items prepared for protection from evil, healing, luck and evil eye have been used for thousands of years and still continue to be used. Mankind believed that various idols and figurines would protect them from evil, up to monotheistic religions. In later periods, a wide variety of objects believed to have positive effects were used, and the names and attributes of divine power were embroidered on them with various symbols and shapes.

A similar understanding can be seen in the “Amulet Shirts Collection” in Topkapı Palace, which shows the beliefs of the Ottoman Sultans, their perception of prayer and destiny. It was believed that these shirts protect the wearer against diseases and various evils, and heal the sick.

A piece of the back of a talismanic shirt found in Topkapi Palace on the Salute Vase is stylized. On the border on the body of the vase, “Muhammad” is written in kufic writing style.

Selametle Vase is made of handmade glass and all relief patterns are handcrafted using 24-carat gold gilding. Production is limited to 2000 pieces.
