Description

Piri Reis Çanakkale Plate 21 Cm Kitab-ı Bahriye, written by Pir-i Reis in 1521, is a handbook for sailors. It is both a marine guide and a work that demonstrates the advanced cartography techniques of that period. In the book, the maritime advances and discoveries of the Portuguese, the winds in the China Sea, the Indian Ocean, the Mediterranean and the Aegean Sea, the Persian Gulf and the Atlantic Ocean are described in detail. In the map section, where the prose narration begins, which constitutes the main book, historical and geographical information is given about the Aegean Sea coasts and islands, starting from the Dardanelles, the Adriatic Sea coasts, Western Italy, Southern France, Eastern Spain coasts and the surrounding islands. The product includes Sultaniye (Çanakkale) and Kilitbahir. A map of the region was used. In its text, Çanakkale and Kilitbahir castles are mentioned, information is given where ships can anchor and obtain passage permits, and the current and deep places of the sea are specified. This product is produced for decorative use.
