Description

The picture depicts people making a boat trip in Göksu. Göksu was one of the most popular picnic areas of 19th century Istanbul. In the foreground of the painting is a woman from Istanbul. The mansions along the coastline end with Anadoluhisarı at the end.
Zonaro painted paintings reflecting that period from an Italian perspective in Istanbul. II. Abdülmecit gave Zonaro, whose talent he admired very much, both the Mecidi Nişan and declared him a palace painter. In addition to his portraits, Zonaro has also painted many women, especially in everyday life scenes, and these paintings are very valuable works that show the architectural and social life in Istanbul.
This product has been specially produced for the 10th anniversary of Pera Museum in cooperation with Paşabahçe Stores and Pera Museum.
