Description
Palaces and palace gardens, which are iconic structures of Istanbul, were carefully observed as indicators of power, splendor and wealth. Among the flowers used to decorate the palace gardens, especially the tulip, has become the symbol of a certain period.
The magnificence of the period is depicted in the miniatures of Surname-i Hümayun, in which the circumcision wedding of Şehzade Mehmet, son of Sultan Murad III, is depicted.
Tulips and cypress trees in Surname-i Hümayun miniatures are stylized and used on the edge of the Hasbahçe Mirror.
Hasbahçe Mirror is decorated by hand using leaf gilding.
